The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine announced an attempt on the life of the Minister of Agrarian Policy
According to police, the main customer of the murder of Ukrainian minister Roman Leshchenko was a US citizen, his former business partner. The case is related to Leshchenko's activities in 2018 – before he joined the government
The assassination of the Minister of Agrarian Policy Roman Leshchenko was prevented in Ukraine. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky at a briefing.
According to him, the main customer of the assassination of the minister is a US citizen, his former business partner. Another customer was a Ukrainian citizen. Monastyrsky noted that they all collaborated in 2018.
Initially, the American ordered the murder of another citizen of Ukraine & mdash; a collector hired by an American businessman to “ knock out debts '' from Leshchenko, said Monastyrsky. The collector took $ 150 thousand from the American for the work, but did not return the money to him, in connection with which he decided to kill him.
The Ukrainian woman communicated with the killer. All communication between the customer and the killer was documented, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized.
Monastyrsky said that the murder of the collector was staged: the customer was sent a photo and video showing the allegedly murdered man.
After that, the American and the Ukrainian made a new order & mdash; on Roman Leshchenko, “with whom they collaborated, from whom they tried to take away property and knock out fictitious debts.” Minister.
Law enforcement officers managed to detain two organizers of the crimes. A US citizen and his authorized representative were informed of suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, kidnapping and extortion (part 2 of article 15, part 3 of article 27, paragraphs 6, 11, 12, part 2 of art. 115; part 2 article 15, part 3 article 27, part 2 article 121; part 2 article 15, part 3 article 27, part 2 article 146; part 2 article 15 , part 3 of article 27, part 4 of article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Now the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being decided.
Roman Leshchenko was appointed Minister of Agrarian Policy in December 2020. Prior to that, from 2019 to 2020, he served as the authorized president of Ukraine for land issues of the State Service for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre.
Prior to that, Leshchenko was engaged in agribusiness, creating and heading the Agrodar group of companies in 2012 ;.
At the end of September, an attempt was made on the life of the assistant to the President of Ukraine Serhiy Shefir. In the Kiev region on September 22, his car was fired upon from the side of the road. The chief was in the back seat and was not injured, his driver was wounded in the leg. According to the Deputy Interior Minister, the attackers wanted to shoot the driver, stop the car and kill Shefir. However, the driver sped up and thereby saved himself and the passenger.
