Peskov said that the participation of the CSTO in the special operation in Ukraine was not discussed
Putin's spokesman emphasized the “efficiency, efficiency and necessity of the organization” and Russia's intention to develop the CSTO
The involvement of the CSTO forces in the special military operation in Ukraine was not considered in the Kremlin, the presidential press secretary told reporters Dmitry Peskov, RIA Novosti reports.
He noted that the development of the CSTO is one of the priorities of Russia in foreign policy, and the organization itself “in the recent past has demonstrated its effectiveness, efficiency and relevance.”
The CSTO, in addition to Russia, includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
On May 16, a summit of leaders of the CSTO countries was held in Moscow, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the organization. At the meeting, Putin promised the leaders of the CSTO countries to inform them about the course of hostilities. Secretary General Stanislav Zas emphasized that the issue of the participation of the CSTO collective forces in the special operation was not discussed at this summit.
The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, in June accused the leaders of the CSTO countries of not taking a stand against the backdrop of events in Ukraine: “If there is a state, if there is an ally, it must decide and take its step. Who saved Belarus? Russia. Who saved Kazakhstan? Russia. Who stopped the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan? Russia. And when Russia needs it, everyone is silent— afraid of sanctions».
Deputy and Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Konstantin Zatulin in an interview with “Moscow Speaks” On June 18, he declared that “the so-called allies” Russia in the CIS, the EAEU and the CSTO “understand their obligations and their alliances in a very peculiar way”, referring to these associations “like a smorgasbord”. This is how he reacted to the words of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, about the non-recognition of the LPR and the DPR. Secretary of the General Council of “United Russia” Andrei Turchak criticized Zatulin's position, suggesting that he “focus on the functions of his committee”— strengthening allied relations with the countries of the former USSR. Turchak stressed that Tokayev— no reason for officials to “make provocative, tendentious comments in the media.”

Russia conducts an operation in Ukraine on & laquo; demilitarization and denazification & raquo; from February 24. Киев объявил военное положение и разорвал дипломатические отношения с Москвой.
В январе миротворцы ОДКБ участвовали в подавлении протестов в Казахстане после обращения Токаева. According to Art. 4 of the Collective Security Treaty, if one of the member states is subjected to “an armed attack that threatens security, stability, territorial integrity and sovereignty”, then this will be considered by the other participants as aggression against all of them. Therefore, in the event of such aggression, the participating countries, at the request of the affected state, must provide military assistance. Tokayev stressed that during the January protests it was precisely about external aggression, so it was appropriate to turn to the CSTO for help.
