Putin and Macron confirmed that the exported grain should be sent to developing countries, and also expressed mutual readiness for non-politicized interaction on the situation around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with the participation of the IAEA

Ukraine, using Western weapons, continues to purposefully fire at the civilian infrastructure of Donbass. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in a conversation with French leader Emmanuel Macron, the Kremlin press service reports.

The leaders of the two countries discussed the situation at the Zaporozhye NPP. Putin drew attention to the regular Ukrainian attacks on the station's facilities, including the storage of radioactive waste. He pointed out the need to influence the Kyiv authorities so that the shelling of the station was immediately stopped.

The parties expressed their mutual readiness for non-politicized interaction on the situation around the Zaporizhzhya NPP with the participation of the IAEA.

“Putin also emphasized that the Ukrainian security forces, using weapons supplied by Western countries, continue targeted massive shelling of the civilian infrastructure of the cities of Donbass, as a result of which civilians suffer,” — emphasized in the Kremlin.

In addition, Putin and Macron discussed the export of grain from Ukraine. They agreed that the exported grain should be directed primarily to the needs of the countries of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. “For these purposes, it is extremely important that the European Commission does not create obstacles to the supply of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers,” — noted in the Kremlin.

Earlier on September 11, Macron, in a conversation with British Prime Minister Liz Truss, called the military conflict in Ukraine one of the priority topics on which the French and British authorities will interact.

“Our support for Ukraine, as well as food and energy security, will be one of our common priorities,” — said the French leader.

France and other European states stepped up arms supplies to Ukraine after the start of the Russian military operation. Back in March, Paris handed over to Kyiv 18 self-propelled artillery mounts CAESAR with a caliber of 155mm. In June, after a visit to Kyiv, President Macron said that Paris would continue to supply Ukraine with weapons.

Russia has repeatedly stressed that the West, by supplying weapons to Ukraine, only contributes to prolonging the conflict. The transfer of long-range weapons to Kyiv will lead to the geographical expansion of the special operation, the Foreign Ministry warned.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in turn, said that due to additional supplies there is an opportunity for a “tipping point” in conflict. Authors Tags Subscribe to RuTube RBC Live broadcasts, videos and recordings of programs on our RuTube channel
