The Polytechnic Museum invites everyone to its Open Collection to the new exhibition “Foundation of the Future”. The project, organized in partnership with Russian Science Foundation, talks about the research of modern Russian scientists and how this research is connected with the heritage of the past.

What will happen there?

Guests of the exhibition “Foundation of the Future” it is proposed to make a journey into the world of scientific discoveries. Through the stories of Russian researchers, it will be possible to learn about the achievements and developments that are currently being carried out in our country with the support of the Russian Science Foundation, as well as what made these discoveries possible.

"The exhibition is dedicated to modern fundamental research of Russian scientists, and to how they are related to the achievements of the past, — says Deputy General Director of the Polytechnic Museum for Science and Education Konstantin Fursov. — The story is told on behalf of 12 researchers, so the scientific details, which can be seen thanks to a specially created digital exposition layer, acquire human features, become clearer and closer to a wide audience.

At the same time, the exhibition “The Foundation of the Future” — just one of the projects that are organized in the year of the 150th anniversary of the Polytechnic Museum and open the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. Learn more about the research, its authors, and the impact of inventions on everyday life at events of our public program — brunches, open lectures, seminars, quizzes.

Where will it be?

Exhibition “Foundation of the Future” provides a unique opportunity to visit the Open Collection of the Polytechnic Museum and see rare items from its funds. Some of      related scientific fields, in which 12 working heroes of the exhibition.

Open collection, or fund storage — this is the heart of the Polytech. Here are collected all the exhibits of the collection, which has been formed since 1872 . It has more than 217 thousand unique items and mechanisms — from  the only surviving Russian car of pre-revolutionary construction “Russo-Balt” in the world; to complete collections of all types of telegraph devices and computer equipment.

Now, when the historical building of the museum is under reconstruction, the depository is temporarily located on the territory of Technopolis "Moscow", at Volgogradsky prospect, 42 , bldg. 5.

Who conducts?

Exhibition Partner — Russian Science Foundation — was established at the initiative of the President of Russia at the end of 2013  It finances scientific and scientific-technical programs and projects in fundamental research. During this time, the foundation has already supported more than 60 thousand researchers.

The name of the exhibition was not chosen by chance: it is in fundamental research that the future of technology is laid. The exhibition will be of interest to schoolchildren, students, young researchers and everyone who is interested in science. Recommended age of visitors: 6+. Entrance is possible only as part of an excursion group by pre-registration. Ticket price — from 200 to 400 rubles, depending on the category.

The exhibition runs until October 30,2022 .
