Monde UFO :: Visions Of Fatima

Awash in reverb and rippling bridges of synth, “Visions of Fatima” is the latest communiqué from cosmic LA weirdos monde ufo and the first taste off their forthcoming album, Vandalized Statue to Be Replaced With Shrine. The lounge-laced dose of ambient psych from the duo references the Marian apparitions witnessed by three shepherd children in Fátima, Portugal in 1917 and proceeds to blend the sacred and the supernatural in their keenly overcast fashion. Kicking off with drum machine mystique and rings from Kris Chau’s signature singing bowl, Ray Monde’s hushed, spoken word retelling of the titular events arrive in a wave of wrinkling keys and free jazz spams. An accompanying visual, directed by Monde and Bryce Pulaski, follows Chau on a lo-fi Lynchian cruise through town, her verdant destination unleashing a fever dream phantasm of all manner of unexplained sightings. | c depasquale
